PETALING JAYA, April 5 — PKR deputy president Azmin Ali returned today his Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) official car to obey a Selangor directive on the administration of a caretaker government.

He added that Selangor issued the circular on February 19, which outlined instructions such as Selangor executive councillors returning government vehicles, as well as avoiding actions like making key policy decisions, awarding major development projects or signing significant contracts.

“To further test this democratic concept which has been consistently violated by Barisan Nasional (BN), Keadilan calls on Datuk Seri Najib and all the leaders of the Barisan Nasional to take the first step to return all official cars and vehicles to the states and the federation, except for strictly official duties which are not related to campaign activities,” Azmin (picture) told reporters at the PKR headquarters here, referring to Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The Selangor state assembly was dissolved yesterday after Parliament was dissolved on Wednesday.

Election 2013, which is expected to be the most keenly contested in recent times, will likely be held by the end of the month.

Azmin accused BN today of exploiting government machinery and resources for campaign activities, even after the dissolution of Parliament.

“This practice is a clear violation of caretaker government principles and must be stopped immediately,” said the Gombak MP.

“Keadilan will not violate this principle and will not allow this transgression to be repeated this time around. We will observe the democratic process fully, beginning with this caretaker government as a mark of respect of the people’s rights, and to honour their trust, as well as to be fair to all contending parties,” he added.
