I categorically condemn the arrest of Rafizi Ramli at the gates of Parliament today.
This is a clear case of arbitrary arrest, abuse of police powers and a mockery of Parliamentary democracy.
Such a drastic measure by the police only serves to reinforce the impression that rule of law is standing on its head and the country’s organs of power are more interested in shielding the political masters rather than the citizens.
As a duly elected Member of Parliament, Rafizi is duty bound to expose wrong doings and corruption whenever and wherever the
situation arises. The police should investigate the culprits instead of the whistle-blower.
I call for his immediate and unconditional release.
