Azmin wants Ongkili to set date to resolve water deal deadlock

Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali wants Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili to immediately set a date for both parties to iron out all disputes resulting from the restructuring of the water services industry in the state.

Mohamed Azmin said this included the demands made by the federal government in the water deal, including the taking over of Selangor assets in the Federal Territory.

“I am just adhering to the agreement that was signed. If there are different views, it’s better to talk,” he told reporters after presenting a cheque to fund the ‘Hijrah Selangor’ programme today.

It was reported that the date to finalise the proposed takeover of the water concession from Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd (PNSB) and Syabas by the state government had been delayed thrice.
It was initially set to be finalised on February 9, and later extended to March 9, and then to April 9. The latest date is tomorrow (May 11).

Asked whether the Selangor government would use legal avenues to resolve the water deal deadlock, Mohamed Azmin said he did not see the need for it as both state and federal governments agreed to certain terms and conditions on the water deal. – Bernama, May 10, 2015

“DASH? Saya terima arahan rakyat”

“Sama macam isu Lebuhraya Kinrara-Damansara (KIDEX), kalau mereka tak nak maka tak naklah,” katanya selepas melawat Maahad Tarbiyah Islamiyah Al-Ansar, di sini petang tadi.

Stop insulting Malays, Azmin Ali lambasts Barisan

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali has lambasted Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen for playing up the race card in the controversial Datum Jelatek development project.

He said it was wrong for them to insinuate that Malays could not afford luxury homes and were only capable of acquiring low-cost houses amid protests that the project would only benefit the Chinese.

Datum Jelatek, a mixed commercial development, is being developed by Datumcorp Intenational (DCI).

Located near Keramat, the upscale condominium consists of 647 serviced units and will cost around RM700,000 each.

Azmin said despite the high price, there was an overwhelming response from bumiputra buyers as 1,023 have registered for 337 units, or 50% of the quota allocated to them.

“A total of 900 non-Malay buyers have registered for the remaining quota. Who says that local Malays could not afford these houses?” he told the Selangor state assembly, Tuesday.

He also blasted Datuk Shamsuddin Lias (BN-Sg Burong) for insisting that Malays could not afford luxury homes as in the case in Bukit Jelutong.

“I would like to invite Sg Burong to Bukit Jelutong, where each bungalow cost not less than RM3mil, and the terrace house cost less than RM1mil each, but 80% of Malays owned houses there. This is a fact. So, please stop insulting the Malays,” Azmin said.

Azmin, who is also the Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, said that the state government had compensated the former residents of the Jalan Enggang low cost flats, which were demolished to make way for the Datum Jelatek project.

“If we were to pay them based on market value, they would only be paid RM130,000 to RM165,000 for the flat, which they bought for only RM19,000 in the 70s.

“But we gave them RM250,000 to RM350,000 as compensation, and were given priority to buy the Datum Jelatek condominium. Of course they were happy with this,” he said.

The controversy on the project broke out in January when some residents staged a protest at the site project, claiming that the project would transform the Malay-majority area into a “Chinese district”, as they believed only the Chinese could afford to purchase the luxury units.

Anwar kekal Penasihat Ekonomi

SHAH ALAM, 7 APR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim kekal memegang jawatan Penasihat Ekonomi dan tiada keperluan membuat pelantikan baru .

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Mohamed Azmin Ali mengingatkan Sidang Dewan Negeri Selangor (DNS) ketokohan Anwar menguruskan ekonomi sehingga mendapat pengiktirafan dunia.

“Euro Money mengiktiraf beliau sebagai salah seorang Menteri Kewangan terbaik selepas pelantikannya manakala pada 1996 dia diiktiraf sebagai “Finance Minister of the Year’.

Azmin Ali raps two BN assemblymen for plagiarism

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state assembly sitting on Tuesday has turned lively when Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali accused two Barisan Nasional assemblyman of plagiarism, for allegedly posing an exact same question to the House.

In the beginning of his winding-up speech on the motion of thanks for the royal address by the Sultan of Selangor, Azmin said Hulu Bernam and Kuang assemblymen were found to have “plagiarised” each other’s question.

“I can understand if they pose a similar question, but the question they asked came in the same script, the same content and the same writing,” he said.

The question, said Azmin, sought to seek answer from the House regarding the mentri besar’s office structure, the function and standard operating procedure (SOP) on each staff, and the amount of salary and allowances of each staff.

This appeared to have irked Datuk Rosni Sohar (BN-Hulu Bernam), denying that it was form of plagiarism as the question was just “spontenously written”.

“The mentri besar should not have blown this out of porportion. As an MB, he can choose to answer any assemblyman he wants,” she said.

To this, Azmin said he had no problem to answer the question but argued that he did not know which one to answer to, resulting the answer to be postponed.

“I don’t know if Umno outsourced a company to come up with questions for them. But if they did, at least make sure it’s a different question.

“Even in university, the students found to be plagiaring would be taken action against them,” he said.

Datuk Shamsuddin Lias (BN-Sg Burong) then came to their colleagues’ defence, saying that this should not be made into an issue.

“What is wrong with franchising it to other people in order to get their views? Your duty is to answer the question posed, that’s all,” he said.

Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh then made a ruling to make a copy of the answer to be given to the two assemblymen.

Later, Sulaiman Abd Razak (BN-Permatang) rebutted, saying that a Penang Pakatan Rakyat assemblyman had also plagiarised a question in the state assembly.

“The DAP assemblyman plagiarised a question from BN at the Penang’s last sitting. 100% the same. You don’t have to answer this. I’m just giving you this fact,” he said.

Earlier, the Selangor state assembly observed a minute silence for Rompin MP Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis and the Prime Minister’s principal private secretary Datuk Seri Azlin Alias, who died in the helicopter crash last Saturday in Semenyih.

Prayers were also offered to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s father, Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman who passed away last Sunday, and Selangor State Investment Centre senior manager, Noor Azmawi Abdul Aziz who died on Monday night.

Khalid’s ‘Weak’ Water Restructuring Deal With The Federal Government

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali (pic) has continued his attack on his predecessor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, this time for inking a ‘weak’ water restructuring deal with the Federal Government.

The Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman said Khalid should have been informed of what he was about to sign especially on the Federal’s proposed takeover of Selangor-owned land with water assets in Semenyih and Bukit Nanas.

“This land with water assets is operated by the state government and it should not be disputed by the Federal Government after the deal was struck in September 2014,” said Azmin, during his winding-up speech for the motion of thanks for royal address by Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, here Tuesday.

Azmin said both the Federal and state governments had agreed that these water treatment plants were part of Selangor’s assets, and there was no intent to ‘rob’ Putrajaya of the land.

“Port Klang assemblyman (Khalid) should also agree with this because this was what he listed himself in the agreement.

“Why only now has the Federal Government come back to us and say that the assets belong to them?

“If they say it belongs to them, why didn’t they dispute this before they signed the deal?” asked Azmin.

He added that the agreement listed assets that were to be transferred to Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) were only confined to water assets.

“The Attorney-General had also failed in playing his role in advising the Federal Government on the water and assets deal,” he said.

Azmin had in February called off its water restructuring deal because the Federal Government had wanted to only the water assets but also the land on which the assets were located.

He then took the opportunity to lash out at Khalid for cooperating with Umno and Barisan Nasional just to run him down.

“Please pass this word to your new friend, because Khalid clearly knows what he signed. I can smell that both Port Klang and Sg Burong are now launching an attack against me on this,” said Azmin to the opposition bench.

Khalid was not present at the state assembly sitting Tuesday.

PKR mohon Sarawak tarik larangan masuk pemimpin partinya

IMG_1443 IMG_1411 IMG_1382 IMG_14521 (1)

Azmin: PKR not mere ‘West Malaysian’ party

IMG_0063a IMG_0536a IMG_0440a azmina IMG_0713a

Sarawakians should consider PKR because it can fight for their interests at local and federal levels, instead of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) which is a state-based party, said PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

“We can help Sarawak fight for the increase of 20 percent in oil royalty; we can influence the policies of the federal government such as goods and service tax (GST), civil service appointments, transfer of teachers, religious issues, and so on.

“PBB being a state party has no power over these issues,” Azmin said.

His remarks came in the wake of Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem’s statement telling Sarawakians not to vote for PKR, DAP and PAS as these parties are peninsula-based.

“You should put a stop labelling us as a ‘West Malaysian’ party which will ‘conquer’ Sarawak. All these talks are rubbish,” he said at the launch of Mambong PKR division service centre in Siburan yesterday.

This is his first visit to Sarawak after being appointed as Selangor Menteri Besar last year. His three day visit will include a visit to Miri.

Azmin also told the multi-racial gathering that West Malaysians who came to Sarawak will not to contest as candidates in the state.

“I come to Sarawak not because I want to be a candidate, but I want to help Sarawak.

“The real colonial masters are in Umno, who want to control Sarawak,” he said.

The real colonial masters

He noted that 80 percent of civil servants in the federal departments are West Malaysians, and only 20 percent are Sarawakians.

Similarly, 80 percent of teachers are from Peninsula, while 20 percent are Sarawakians, he said, adding that these were Umno policies.

“Are there no Sarawakians who are qualified to hold posts in the federal departments in Sarawak?” he said.

He said PKR has been fighting for the rights of natives in customary land cases, unlike PBB and BN which have eroded such land rights.

Azmin said the party is set for to upset BN’s stronghold on the state in the upcoming state elections are now in “fifth gear”.

“We are ready to face the election even if it is to be held next month,” he said.

He also announced that PKR will contest the three Dayak-Bidayuh majority state seats of Mambong, Serembu and Tarat in the Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency.

He said that the party has identified its candidates.
