    Working visit to Japan

    Working visit to Japan with delegation to strengthen trade and investment between both countries. The delegation attended a series of events, site visits and briefings as well as meetings with senior Japanese officials to explore new areas of cooperation and enhance economic ties between Malaysia and Japan in the areas of education, agriculture, infrastructure, defence and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) initiatives.

    Official visit to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan to discuss Petronas’ role in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry, particularly downstream activities. Bilateral discussions involving new opportunities in various sectors such as education, ship building, digital economy, high technology and textile industry were also discussed at length.

    1st Session of the Joint Russia-Malaysia Commission for Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation (JCESTC) in Moscow, Russian Federation

    This 1st Session of JCESTC was co-chaired by Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and H.E. Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade, for the Russian Federation. The co-chairs lead discussions on trade, economic and investment cooperation between Russia and Malaysia, particularly in the areas of aerospace, defence, ICT, innovations and digital development. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali also met with the Russian business community in a forum to facilitate trade and investment between both countries.

    74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the United States of America

    Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali attended the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York  as part of the Prime Minister’s delegation. At a side event on ‘Environmental Stewardship in Addressing Poverty to Achieve Sustainable Development for All’, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali delivered remarks at the High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development on the margins of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and he was given the honour to announce the One WASH Fund. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali also had the opportunity to attend meetings with members of the US-ASEAN Business Council and US Chamber of Commerce.

    Working visit to the Republic of Singapore

    Working visit to the Republic of Singapore to further strengthen bilateral relations and meet with senior members of the Government of Singapore. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali also had a fruitful, productive and promising discussion when Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat hosted him at a working lunch at the Singapore Botanic Garden. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali also met up with Singapore’s Trade and Industry minister Chan Chun Sing, on the side-lines of the 2019 Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix.

    Working visit to Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand where Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali lead a Malaysian delegation to attend the 40th anniversary celebration of the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA).He also delivered an address at the Gala Dinner with the theme, “40 Years of Shared Prosperity”.

    Working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali lead the Malaysian delegation to the 8th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER8) and the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi (WEC24). Furthermore, productive and engaging discussions were held on potential areas for further economic cooperation and investment opportunities between Malaysia and the UAE.

    The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, was accorded a state welcome on 27 August 2019 at the Bogor Presidential Palace,  in conjunction with His Majesty’s state visit to Indonesia. Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was part of the entourage as the minister-in-attendance. Agong’s visit to Indonesia further fosters close bilateral ties.

    6th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting, Vienna, Austria

    Working visit to Vienna, Austria to attend the 6th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting where Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali reaffirmed that Malaysia, would stand together in solidarity with the oil-producing countries, in continuing the global market stability agenda, which would benefit producing and consuming countries alike. Malaysia also reiterated the principles of CoC, which is on a voluntary basis without legally binding rights or obligations and does not affect member countries’ sovereignty. He also had the opportunity to attend a meeting with HE Li Yong, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) where they discussed sustainable industrial development, including Shared Prosperity.

    Working visit to People’s Republic of China

    Working visit to People’s Republic of China where Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had a productive meeting with Mr. Zhang Guoqing, Mayor of Tianjin on potential areas of economic collaboration. He also had a meeting with H.E. Ning Jizhe, Deputy Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) where they had a productive discussion on the formulation and implementation of medium and long-term development strategies.

    Working visit to Singapore where Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had an open and candid discussion on current issues with Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. The discussion reaffirmed that there are far more opportunities for Malaysia and Singapore to work together, especially at this time of global economic transformation.

    Working visit to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali met HE Khalid Al Falih, Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as his counterpart, HE Mohamad Al Tuwaijiri, Minister of Economy and Planning of KSA and HE Amin Nasser, the CEO of Aramco. He also visited Aramco’s site in Dhahran, petrochemical industrial areas in Jubail and Ra’s Al Khair and also to the Royal Commission of Jubail and Yanbu’.

    Working visit to Vienna, Austria to lead the delegation at the 12th Meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee and 5th OPEC and Non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting. The delegates looked into the current progress of cooperation between oil producing nations and discussed the price of the falling crude oil prices.

    1st BIMP-EAGA Ministerial Meeting, Brunei Darussalam.

    Working visit to Brunei to participate in the 1st BIMP-EAGA Ministerial Meeting with China where the document on Enhancing the BIMP-EAGA China Cooperation was adopted. The aim of the cooperation is to further strengthen these areas; connectivity, agriculture, fishery processing and food industry, tourism and socio- cultural exchanges, trade and investment, digital economy, poverty alleviation, inclusive development, human resource development, environment, and power and energy.

The theme of the summit; ‘Resilient and innovative ASEAN’, encapsulates the vision for the bloc to be united amidst growing uncertainties in the global strategic landscape.

    Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was part of the Malaysian delegation to attend the 36th Japan-Malaysia Economic Association (Jameca)-Malaysia-Japan Economic Association (Majeca) Joint Conference and Malaysian Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan. It was emphasised in this Conference that Malaysia is taking proactive measures to attract more FDIs.

Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali also attended the networking dinner with Malaysias in Hanoi organised by ‘Malawakil Hanoi’
