Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar should publicly apologise to the family of slain teenager Aminulrasyid Amzah, said PKR.
Party deputy Azmin Ali lauded the Shah Alam High Court’s decision yesterday in finding the defendants liable for the death of the 14-year-old victim of police shooting.
‘In view of the clear findings of the High Court judge, the IGP must take full responsibility for his actions and make a public apology to the family of Aminulrasyid,” he said in a statement last night.
“This is a very serious condemnation of the conduct of the IGP in discharging his duties when he was the chief police officer of Selangor.
“Such a finding against the country’s top police officer is an unprecedented event.
“Previously in the A Kugan (custodial death) case, the IGP was also strongly criticised by another High Court judge,” added Azmin, who is also Selangor menteri besar.
